Skirting and architrave, together
Coordinating mouldings makes the transition between a wall and a doorway feel deliberate.
Match the character
Start with the same profile family where a matching architrave is available. A curved skirting can also sit comfortably beside a simpler door surround if the proportions and finish are consistent. Compare the actual profile images rather than relying on the name alone.
Check the meeting point
The thickness of the architrave matters where the skirting meets it. Check how the two edges will line up before ordering. A plinth block can create a defined junction at the base of a door frame, but it still needs dimensions that suit both mouldings.
Keep the material consistent
Using the same material and coating across a room helps the finish feel coherent. Natural timber varies from piece to piece, so consider the grain and tone as well as the profile. Primed MDF still needs the appropriate finishing coats.
Measure each doorway
Check the width and height to be covered, allowing for the joints and cuts your installation requires. Some products offer individual lengths while others offer door-set options. Read the selected option carefully so you order the correct quantity.
